Jhansi - A tribute to Rani Lakshmi Bai
On our way to Orcha we reach Jhansi at 11 am.
We visited the well preserved Jhansi fort, it has a long and fascinating history which you can read about here .
This fort was built in 1613 by Raja Bir Singh Deo of Orch. Before taking Bai Jhansi after her husband's death, Rani Lakshmi used the fort as her residence.

In 1858 he led forces against the British East India Company. General Hugh Rose's forces laid siege to Jhansi in March and April 1858. They were captured on April 4, 1858. Ranilakshmi Bai bravely held on
Fleeing the castle and the city as the British victory nears, he jumps into the tower of the asteroid castle hurs with his daughter.
Generally there is the Kadak Bagli cannon which was used in the 1857 revolution. The Central India Campaign was one of the last in a series of actions in the Indian Mutiny of 1857 (also known as the First Indian War of Independence or the Indian Mutiny). . On June 5, British officers and civilians and members of their families took refuge in the fort at Jhansi, and three days later they emerged and were killed by the mutinous and outlaw policemen. Rani Lakshmi Bai was not involved in this act, but the British blamed him (at that time the rebels were the only armed force in the city and no British army could oppose them).
