Rajasthan rolling - 1
We left home at 6:30 AM on a rainy morning for our Rajasthan odyssey.
This rain followed us till Ahmedabad. Truck traffic from Dahisar to the farm was heavy and confusing. It took us 2 hours to cover this 80 km distance.
We had breakfast at the Manor's Silver Mines food court, where you can eat as much as you want for just 69 rupees. Although the guy behind the counter never takes the money and charges Rs. 70/- and sternly "Rs. 200 for waste." points to the writing board. So you grab a plate and go to a place that has water, idlis, poha and dosa. You can drink coffee/tea/lime water to wash it down. If you want it without sugar, you have to order from the menu. After a hearty breakfast and reassurance that we won't go in vain, we boarded NH8 and by 5:00 pm it was raining incessantly. After the kiosk the roads were good and truck traffic wasn't too bad.
Soon we reached NE1 (National Highway 1) and half way we found fuel low and no fuel pump anywhere on the road unlike Mumbai-Pune Expressway where there are food depots and fuel pumps. 3 places. .
While leaving Nadiad, we met a group of young workers who warmed our hearts when they told us that there was a Reliance pump before leaving Ahmedabad.
We then took a detour and took off to get to Greenwoods and Lakeview Resort. Finally, arrive at a resort away from the hustle and bustle of the city, 565 km from Mumbai. There is nothing within walking distance to the complex. So you have to eat there or go somewhere else further away.
It is a beautiful resort with very friendly staff and delicious food. The only thing that bothered me was that they took your fingerprints during the check-in. Apparently this is the law of the land and must be followed. This is after copies of our documents and signatures. Another thing that surprised me was the absence of Gujarati in their restaurant.
I spent a comfortable night at the hotel, had some Gujarati Punjabi food and wandered around for the rest of the day.

The next morning we rolled into Mount Abu, our first stop in Rajasthan.
