Devrukh - The home of Hapus (King of mangoes)

The temons were ready to beat the heat and the mango season was about to end. As an auspicious occasion, the Road Travelers Club has announced a weekend trip to Devruk in Ratnagiri, home of the famous Hapus or Alphonsomango.  So join without delay.
A convoy of 4 vehicles left Mumbai around 7 pm. The weather was pleasant for an hour, then it started to get hot. The drive on NH17 was beautiful and as the roads widened under the bark it made it easy to slow down and enjoy the scenery. For the first time I saw a sidewalk part of the freeway which helped us get around later. But despite the condition of the road, we managed to travel at a good pace and made our first stop for breakfast at a restaurant on the highway. It was time to meet our 5th driver who joined us there. It was also a good time to get to know the travelers better as many users were meeting for the first time.
It was group selfie time.

We were driving after a good breakfast on the highway as the sun steadily set for lunch at Chiplu where Car 6 joined us.

The chiplun surmaithli at Abhishek's restaurant was heavenly. I don't mind going to Chiplu's just for this meal. Click here for a review of this restaurant.

Fortunately, the road conditions did not improve much after the chip, because if they had, we would have slept on the vehicle after eating a good meal.
As soon as Ratnagiri finished, the sky became very dark and lit up with the following thunder.

The thunder of applause that surprised us before the natural drama. And then it flows continuously for several minutes to cool the temperature of the room to 7-8 degrees. So it was in a very happy and excited state of mind that we reached our destination, Honest Debrook Ratnagiri .

In the evening and welcome with 'Aam Panna' (sweet raw mango and spices).
We (my husband and I) were lucky enough to be assigned a room in the tree house. beautiful

The construction and interior was also beautiful. The first climb was a bit difficult but after a few climbs it was like a breeze. A/C with all modern amenities in a tree house with bathroom. How much more luxurious can it get?
The evening is reserved for a farm walk featuring mango, jackfruit and cashew trees.

Yes, it is a big mushroom.

Others. We drove along country roads with occasional rickshaws passing by and plenty of natural beauty to be seen. The farm trip was educational and we were educational.

He was encouraged to climb the mango tree to pick something. They finished and brought us tea and pakoras and that was it.

It was a real party on the farm. Everyone had a great time.
After a few introductions, we got to know each other better over dinner. A road trip actually makes you less biased. After a dinner of fish, chicken and vegetables, we retired for a well-deserved meal.
The next morning we had a delicious breakfast of poha, eggs and bread at Olive Restaurant, where local mangoes were delicious for all of us and to refresh the taste buds of a great weekend in Ratnagiri. Click here for an overview of this home.

The return trip was bumpy as we decided the trunk road had speed.

Except for the side roads, it is boring compared to the beautiful road we entered.

Delicious lunch at Sanli en route to National Road and Panchmer Naivdy. Click here for a review of this restaurant.
