Khajuraho

The Khajuraho area, known for its simple sexual wall carvings, has many other beautiful temples. Of the eighty-five, only twenty-two are now in reasonably good condition, and Khajuraho now bears the UNESCO World Heritage seal. The temples date back to 950 - 1050 AD


As you approach the famous city, you are surrounded by "guides" who promise to show you all that Khajuraho has to offer. But very few of them could enter the western group of temples, where all the noble temples are located. They will only guide you through the many eastern, southern and Jain temples. So, if you are thinking of hiring a consultant, keep this in mind.

In the morning we crossed the East, South and Temple of the Giants, and in the evening we crossed the West Ridge. "East", "South" and "West" indicate the direction in which the temples are located, since all these temples are located in an area of ​​about six kilometers.


This was our first visit to the Eastern Dwarf Temple. It is dedicated to Vamana, an incarnation of the Lord.

Next stop was the Jawari Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, built between 1075 and 1100 AD.

By Train: The nearest railway station to Khajuraho is Mohbau, about 77 km from Khajuraho. Harpalpur is another station with good connectivity to most major cities in India and is 90 km from Khajuraho.
By car: Khajuraho is a city with good public and private bus service. Private tour operators arrange air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned luxury buses to Khajuraho from various cities including Jhansi (177 km) and Delhi (594 km).
