Part 8 - Bardia to Lumbini

A trip to Lumbini soothes the soul. The road is good, going smoothly. We reached Lumbini in the afternoon and the traffic police directed us to a 'hotel' in the city centre. This was a 2/3 bedroom hotel with everything we needed including secure parking for our bikes. The owner offers to buy a ticket to Lumpini Park, Buddha's birthplace and all the temples so as not to waste time in the ticket queue. Taking time to eat a roti or two made by the owner's wife, we were ready to explore when we got our tickets to Lumpini Park.

We took a rickshaw with the driver around the huge park to experience the local flavor.
Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar, Japan and India have their own temples, each striving to surpass the other in beauty. We liked what we saw as some were closed for the day or for renovations. You can see in the pictures below.

Finally, we come to the most important place of all: the Buddha's birthplace. This is obvious.

He occupied the main place in the garden. The celebration was soothing.
