A memorable road trip - Part 1

Indian bloggers

The magic happens when two young startups, ScoutMy Trip , The Ultimate Road Trip Planner, and OYO (On Your Own) Rooms, a hospitality portal, team up to give select bloggers a magical journey. The CEO and director of Scout My Trip drove two of their vehicles with exemplary driving performance (Mahindra Scorpio and Ford EcoSport), one an SUV and the other a "compact SUV", on a 2,500 km journey of Delhi to Lucknow to Gorakhpur Kathmandu and back. : . Delhi via Gorakhpur and Agra. All nights were in OYO rooms, which were really affordable and offered exactly what a traveler needed when traveling: clean rooms, clean bathrooms, clean linens (emphasis on cleanliness) , great service, good food and free wifi. to stay connected these days. Overall they were efficient, innovative and friendly to ensure a comfortable stay.

We met in OYO township in Safdarjung enclave and went to next door to Rajinder Da Dhaba for dinner to get to know each other.

After a wonderful meal, we were all happy to see that we love to travel and explore food across the country, so we retired to our well-appointed bedrooms for a good night's sleep.
The next day, we all met in the lobby at 6am and eagerly awaited the start of an epic journey that would span nine days.

They dropped us off as scheduled and we were soon on our way to navigate the boring freeways and highways.

It will reach Lucknow at lunch time.

Along the way, we stopped at a dhaba to enjoy hearty parathas for breakfast.
After an uneventful trip, we reached OYO venues using Google Maps.

The rooms were comfortable and air conditioned as the summer heat was becoming noticeable.

Arriving in Lucknow, we jumped into two rickshaws and headed straight for Tandai Kababi, the best place in town for excellent kebabs. Saumya, who blogs Road to Taste , guided us well, she is from Lucknow so she knows what to eat and what to see.
After a delicious lunch, we were taken to a famous Kulfi ( frozen milk dessert) store for a delicious dessert.
Now we were all set to explore the historic sites of Lucknow and hired a large auto rickshaw named Vikram to reach Bada Imambra, also named after the labyrinthine passageways.

Outside Bhool Bhulaiya Tomb and Mosque.

Tonga beckoned us to Chhota Imambra who was very beautiful in the dark.

With all this exploring, our stomachs were growling, so we headed to the Royal Café for a sumptuous 'chaat' (the term 'chaat' is used to describe the delicious snacks served as an aperitif).

On the "Chat King" side, he also has a Facebook page and loves chatting with all his customers.

Next morning we depart for Gorakhpur but not without a breakfast visit to Chappan Bog.

then tea at the Sharma tea stand, quick visit to the Residence and a short stroll through the old building.

Small streets of Ayodhya

The capital of Awadhi is Faizabad (where Umrao Jah was born) and further down the streets of Ayodhya. It was a wonderful trip, extremely tiring thanks to Google Maps, which was the shortest way through the small streets of the wholesale market to the OYO Rooms Hotel Upvan.

The trip from Lucknow to Gorakhpur showed the versatility of road transport, allowing us to see and experience much more than a direct point-to-point journey. That's where Scout My Trip helps, by highlighting attractions along your route.

Arriving in Gorakhpur, we freshened up, had dinner and spent the night before heading to Kathmandu, Nepal the next morning.

You will learn all about it in the next article. I promise you will have as much fun reading it as we did.
