A taste of Himachal
When I was invited to meet the Club Mahindra bloggers at one of their homes in Kandaghat, I was excited for two reasons. Firstly, because I would have the opportunity to explore a new country, and secondly, because I was sure to enjoy a few days in luxury. Club Mahindra is known for breaking new ground and taking care of all its guests.
When we arrived at their Kandagat property, we were greeted with a traditional tikka
The welcome drink was a delicious apple mojito. This was a sign that we were in the beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh.
The rooms were spacious and had a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.
covered with clouds.
In the evening we were welcomed with traditional Himachal salami from Duntura accompanied by Shekhnai trumpet and dholak.
The energetic and beautiful 'Nati' folk dance by the Club Mahindra staff from Himachal Pradesh was so beautiful that quite a few of us were involuntarily dancing along with them! We are told that such shows are held every Saturday and on special days or by special order.
Himachal Thali We had dishes from all over Himachal for lunch.
Sweet.
The next morning we were shown around the botanical gardens where all the plants used are grown.
Mint, parsley, rosemary and thyme etc. Like herbs. They also let us have fun picking pears, although I wanted to pick apples, but they weren't ready to pick yet. Then we went and planted some saplings in their garden and promised that they would do it
Water and care and mail us photos of their growth. After this outdoor fun we drove to Shimla which is only 30 km from Khandagat but the weather was not good as it started raining when we reached the street level of Upper Mall. We waited for the rain to stop and then we were taken to Club Mahindra Mashobra less than 10 km away.
I'm slowly making my way to an Italian dinner. This property is very compact compared to the one in Kandaghat.
But it has all the ingredients to ensure a luxurious stay.
Then on our way to Shimla we went to Himachali village and visited all the famous photo shoots.
He returned to Khandagat tired but safe, sitting on Upper Mall Road and Viceroy Lodge.
The next morning was a drive from Kandagat to Chail, which was a few hours away, but worth it.
Visit for a ride. We visited the Chail Palace, the ancient Kali Mata Temple and the highest cricket ground in the world.
Soon it was time to say goodbye to Dev Bhumi (God's Country) and head back to Mumbai.
Club Mahindra is truly the best place to experience Himachal Pradesh for affordable food, action and luxury in general.
