What is Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh famous for?

On our way to Chanderi we passed by the Chanderi Tribal Archaeological Museum

It's worth a visit. So we went and spent about an hour admiring all the artifacts. it is

The collection is amazing! We walked through history for about an hour. Photography is not allowed in the museum.
We checked into a nice MPPTDC hostel called Tana Bana. Nice, clean, luxurious accommodation at an affordable price!

After lunch we went to Chanderi Fort which is being restored by ASI.
Then we drive to the charming Katighati gate. The history of this gate is both interesting and tragic. Within

When Sher Khan became governor of Chanderi in 1495 AD, he received news that the Sultan of Malwa, Raja Ghiyasuddin Khilji, wanted to visit Chanderi and Jimmon Khan was informed that the Sultan wanted to be received in Chanderi by saying he saw the big gate up there Chanderi. Berg But this information came too late and his arrival was only a day away, so a large prize was offered to anyone who could build such a gate in one day. A mason accepts the challenge and starts working on it with his team. The next morning, Jimmon Khan learned that the work was completed and reached the site to inspect. He was surprised to find that the door had actually been smashed with stones. On further inspection, Zimman Khan found that the craftsman had made no provision to adjust the door to close the door. He told the craftsman that since this gate formed the first line of defense for the fort, it must have had a gate. To assemble the door, they have to make an additional brick, and then the uniqueness of the door will be lost. Jimmon Khan refused to pay for the work, leaving the disgraced artisan empty-handed. Then you will find the suicide and his grave next to the door.
Now it is time to visit the ruins of Koshak Mahal. This simple but magnificent building was built in 1445

Victory Monument of Mehmud Shah Khilji, Sultan of Malwa, commemorating his victory over Sultan Mehmud Sharqi at the Battle of Kalpi.
A legend has it that the real reason the Sultan had the monument built was to provide employment to the people of Chanderi. At that time the people of the city were facing a severe shortage of jobs and under the pretext of winning Kalpi, this program was set up to provide people with jobs and wages.
It is believed that after the first floor was completed, the builders had the problem of lifting the heavy stone blocks to the second floor. This was accomplished by burying the first floor underground to create a slope for the beams to drive into. Each floor is built in the same way and eventually the dirt is removed to reveal the entire structure.

The Jame and Badal Mahal mosques were seen at night. Palace of Badal Mahal ca

Nothing remains inside the fort and only the darwaza (gate). The importance of this darwaza can be seen from the fact that it is the seal attached to the famous handwoven sarees of Chanderi by the Madhya Pradesh Handloom Department and also a seal attached to the letters associated with Chanderi.
Our last stop in Chanderi was Parameshwar Talab and the Lakshman Temple. The legend of Lakshmana

The temple was once home to a group of devotees who came to the dam and spent the night there to rest.

They brought the idol of Lakshmana which they placed under the bell tree. In the morning, the devotees tried to move the idol, but it did not move. So they believed that it was because Lord Lakshmana wanted to stay in that place, so they performed a ceremony to build a temple there.

And you thought Chanderi is only known for sarees!
